Speaker of the Day: Laura Borchert, Maine Boats & Home Show Manager

President Mark Coursey's Service Above Self Moment talked about a group of boys the saved over 200 turtles by creating a turtle crossing for a local highway.
Laura Borchert, Show Manager for the Maine Boats and Home Show was today's speaker. Laura thanked West Bay Rotary for its continued involvement, and it was indicated that West Bay's involvement goes back to the beginning of the show 19 years ago. Laura overviewed the process for how the Show is put together, starting with a yearly theme and the various major elements that lead up to the actual show. This year's theme is Maine's Bicentennial, as the show will have 200 years of Maine Built Boats, with a public boat exhibit in Buoy Park. Laura also overviewed the procedures our volunteers will follow for the ticketing activities, which are identical to those from 2 years ago.
President Mark announced the next Board Meeting, which will be via Zoom on Wednesday, August 4th, starting at 7:00am. We are working to identify a space where the Board may be able to meet.
Meals of Hope is on! Packing event is scheduled for Saturday, August 28th, starting at 9am at the Elks Club in Rockland. We hope to make 6000 packs, which would equate to about 25,000 meals!
Habitat for Humanity's Build Day is Saturday, August 7th, starting at 8:30am at the Philbrook Avenue location in Rockland. If interested in working, please contact Tim Dresser.
Satellite Club's next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th.
Buckets on the Table continue for the Backpack Program.
For the WMLRW fundraiser, Mark announced he lost another 2 pounds this week, for a total of 11 pounds. Pledges by Club members now total $84.50 per pound for each one Mark loses!!
George announced that Bob and Stephanie Steihler have moved to the Portland, Oregon area, and that Bob will eventually transfer to a local Club there. Meanwhile, Bob will continue to be a West Bay Rotarian! Best of luck to both Bob and Stephanie!!
