Speaker of the Day: Jeremy Martin, Camden Planning & Development

Jeremy works for the town of Camden for the last 2 years, making a big difference as director planning and community development. He has worked in this field for the last 20 years and enjoys the small town commitment of community members.

What’s been going on? Zoning amendments for housing affordability (to expand zones to add dwelling units for smaller homes), BTR (business transitional district – rezoned all downtown to B1), Bike trails with public access have been added near the state park, trying to brings families into Camden and are surveying property to add more homes to the community, Tannery Property (obtained a clean-up grant and envisions new vision for this space – addressing riverbank issues and working with EPA to remove solid waste material, no risk to human health at this time), Broadband working group is active (important as we have seen during Covid to learn and work from home, the need is significant – find ways to bring fiber to all the poles), Keep me Healthy grant (public education on covid, public health and small business technical assistance, adding picnic tables to downtown for eatery customers, keeping everyone is being safe - $102K so far), Pop-Up Friday for local businesses to help business owner to handle social distancing.
