Speaker of the Day: Sandy Cox, Rotary Wheel
The Rotary Wheel was passed on to Sandy from Skip Day, Sandy is asking for members to assemble the wheel. The hub is that Rotary begin with service. The spokes each stand for something: Fellowship, World Brotherhood, Club Participation, Business Integrity, Mutual Enlightenment, and Community Leadership. The rim: The Golden Rule. Secure the wheel: connect the key! Rotarian in Action!
Committee Reports:
International Committee: Susan – Rozia, a Rotarian, came to speak with us a few years ago living in Mass. She was able to go back to Afghanistan and is working to build rural schools for girls (Dowries to Diplomas). We did make a one-time donation as a club. Susan and her husband have been supporting a child form Afghanistan. She is making a difference in the areas. Fathers are starting to stand up for their daughters.
Deb gives an update on our student from Africa – she is now a social worker!
Boat Show: Very Successful (despite all levels of weather!). Darcie was a wonderful helpful assistance. The police officer was of assistance as well! Give you feedback to Leamon’s group for suggestions for next year.
Meal of Hope: packing meals again! Aug 28th. Need a few more folks to sign up!
Aug 21 Paul Harris Lobster Bake: Waterside of Camden Hills State Park, 4 pm. Taking donations to assist with costs.
